Elections are over and the citizens of Carthage have chosen to keep Jimmy Chalflinch as Mayor.  Al Barber as well as I will also retain our positions as Carthage Commissioners!  I greatly appreciate the support that was provided and will continue to work for the benefit of our fine community with our well-balanced board.  I would also like to recognize the other candidates.  Elections can be difficult on an individual.  We are all still human after all.  An effort to move into the public eye always opens one to public scrutiny.  While I realize that we may differ on ways to solve Carthage’s issues I respect the other candidates for being willing to step up to the plate.  I am pleased with what Carthage has accomplished in the last four years and am eager to see how much more we can do in the next four years.  Thank you again for all your support!  -Dan

Carthage Police Department

What has our team done in the last 4 years?

  • Hired a full time investigator.

  • Increased officer pay to address high turn over rate.  Pay increase has enabled the town to keep officers after costly certifications are gained thus granting Carthage a net savings.

  • Procured Fuel efficient patrol vehicles consisting of low-displacement turbo and hybrid power trains that use local dealership for all maintenance.

  • Recovered funds through the sale of 5 outdated patrol vehicles at auction.

  • Procured body cameras for all officers.

  • Upgraded tasers for all officers granting more reliable use of non-lethal capabilities.

  • Procured plate readers for patrol fleet.  This enhances our ability to identify questionable vehicles.

  • Replaced patrol fleet laptops.

  • Procured traffic data analysis monitoring system for use in determining traffic flow statistics.

  • Transitioned to new police reporting system.

  • Implemented E-crash software for police force to streamline accident report procedure.
  • We are updating our VIPER radios for 2025 compliance requirements.

  • Working towards new LEO accreditation system.

  • Expanded evidence room storage capacity.
